Touring nationally, the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy show brings four Poe stories brought to life and paired with themed cocktails to Southeast Salem.
In late 2018, smack dab in the middle of Edgewater Street, West Salem, Samuel Thomas, and his partner Jason Staats decided to open a retail store by the name of Across the Street Vintage and Resale.
This unique thrift store has a well-procured selection of worldly treasures, dishes, clothes, toys, jewelry, furniture, and more. It’s the perfect spot to purchase special items to build an altar, buy a gift, or even find an antique camera.
The inside vibe is often quoted by customers as hip, calming, clean, and visually exciting. The feel is mostly curated by Thomas and appeals to all generations of shoppers, treasure hunters, and collectors.
Across the Street has also been a community contributor with its tiny food pantry out in front of the store. The pantry is based on an honor system of take-some-leave-some. It has received overwhelming support from locals and has served over 100 people in need distributing over 2000 cans of food including hygiene products.
The store offers an array of services from delivery service, private shopping appointments, online shopping through their Instagram channel @acrossthestreetsalem, and donation pickups.
If you are looking to donate your high-quality goods to the store, please contact 503-957-5618 to check to see what items they are currently accepting.
